This summer, the iconic Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, is adding a fresh twist to its culinary offerings with two exciting al fresco dining experiences:

The Fountain by Planet Bar and Saturday Braai. Nestled in the heart of Cape Town, this celebrated pink hotel continues to blend its timeless charm with innovative dining options.

The Fountain by Planet Bar

Set amidst lush gardens, The Fountain offers a laid-back, Mediterranean-inspired menu crafted by Executive Chef Luke Lawrence Barry. Highlights include Zuney Wagyu bone marrow, fresh Cape burrata, and Nonna-style meatballs, alongside artisanal cheeses and flatbreads made on-site. For dessert, indulge in a pistachio bomboloni or the playful limoncellomisu.

The vibrant cocktail menu, curated by Head Mixologist Jonathan Makonga, pairs perfectly with the relaxed atmosphere. Sip on the signature Green Goddess or share a jug of fruit-filled sangria while soaking up the garden views.

Saturday Braai

Honouring South Africa’s beloved tradition, the Saturday Braai is a must-visit. Hosted on the poolside lawn, it features wood-fired favourites like Boerewors Rolls, Grilled Shellfish, and tender local beef, paired with classic sides such as Mealie Pap and Braai Broodjies. Sweeten the deal with Malva Pudding bites or Peppermint Crisp desserts while enjoying live acoustic music.

With these new offerings, Mount Nelson invites guests to celebrate South Africa’s culinary heritage in a relaxed yet refined setting. Whether you’re a local or a traveller, these al fresco experiences promise a feast for the senses.
