If you’re up for waking to the lively chatter of penguins and the cawing of seagulls just outside your window, then you’ve got to check out Tintswalo Boulders near Simon’s Town.

It’s right on Boulders Beach, where a bunch of African penguins have been hanging out since a few pairs stumbled upon the place back in 1982. I mean, we’re talking about a spot where the penguins are practically your next-door neighbors!

This beach isn’t just your ordinary stretch of sand—it’s got three lovely beaches and with boardwalks connecting them. The boulders there make these cozy little nooks with warm water, shielded from the winds, making it a real hit with the locals over the years.

Tintswalo Boulders Boutique B&B Villa is the perfect spot for a few days of penguin watching or exploring the south peninsula or for just kicking back on the deck, checking out the scene over at False Bay.

The villa’s set up in a wa that there are nine roomy suites and a suite just for the kids. You can book the whole villa or one of the suites. Each side has its own kitchen, living area, and a dining area. And there are these awesome verandas with views of False Bay.

Oh, and get this—once you arrive, they hand you the key to the garden gate that opens straight onto the boardwalk to the beach, so you can go and hang out with the penguins whenever you like!

The upper deck has a heated pool with a view of the bay that’ll make you want to grab a G&T, kick back on a sunny day, and just take it all in. Down on the ground level, there’s a cozy fire pit tucked into a sheltered courtyard.

I took my young  daughters there, and honestly, I was a bit worried they might bother the other guests. But turns out, they’ve got it set up so the family suites are separate from the other guest suites!

The children’s suite is decked out with a TV lounge, tons of cool toys, and a big family-sized bathroom. My girls had a blast there, giving my husband and me some time to chill on our own deck with a glass of wine and delicious homemade snacks from the kitchen.

Plus, all the windows facing the sea have these automated shutters that block out the morning light, which was a lifesaver.

Breakfast is served on the veranda, a gourmet spread of fresh fruits, pastries, juices, cheeses, and a choice of hot breakfasts. The service from the staff was top-notch, and they really go the extra mile with extra special touches to make your stay unforgettable.

We only stayed for one night, but honestly, I’d suggest staying longer to really soak up the area and enjoy the hospitality. The villa can sleep up to 18 adults and a couple of kidds, located at 7 Gay Road, Simon’s Town.
