For families looking to swap screens for wildlife, fresh air and outdoor adventure, the De Hoop Mini Ranger Programme offers a unique winter school holiday experience that combines learning, exploration and quality family time in one of South Africa’s most celebrated nature reserves.

Located within the spectacular De Hoop Nature Reserve in the Western Cape, the De Hoop Mini Ranger Programme combines outdoor exploration, wildlife discovery and family fun in one of South Africa’s most scenic natural settings.

Designed for children aged six to 11, the immersive three-night programme encourages young explorers to learn about nature while enjoying a memorable family getaway.

What is the De Hoop Mini Ranger Programme?

The newly launched De Hoop Mini Ranger Programme takes place during the winter school holidays and offers children the opportunity to experience life as a junior ranger.

Each young participant receives an animal spotting booklet and pen to record wildlife sightings and daily discoveries throughout the programme. Children who complete the adventure will be awarded an official De Hoop Mini Ranger cap and badge as a keepsake of their experience.

Mini Ranger waistcoats will also be available for purchase from the on-site Curio Shop.

According to De Hoop Collection owner William Stephens, the programme was created to give families an opportunity to reconnect while spending quality time in nature.
